George Frideric Handel's choral masterpiece recounts the trials and tribulations of the Israelites during their exile in Egypt, the plagues brought down on the Egyptians, and the Israelites’ escape through the Red Sea. Replete with musical treatments of hail, flood, pestilence, drought, and slavery, Israel in Egypt stands out among oratorios by its use of a double chorus, with the two choruses often singing in counterpoint to one another, lending an especial richness and depth to the music.
Featured soloists will include Stephanie Prewitt, Donald Meineke, Kirsten Watson, Paul D'Arcy, Meredith Ruduski, Zack Uzzle, Chaz Nailor, Danton Bankay and Rebecca Frazier-Smith. This choral event will be accompanied by full orchestra, under the direction of TCC Artistic Director Brent Baldwin.
