Attached is a photo of an aurora above Grotfjord, Norway, taken by Bjorn Jorgensen last month. Five days before, a large coronal mass ejection occurred, throwing a cloud of fast moving electrons, protons and ions toward the Earth. Some of it impacted our magnetosphere, resulting in spectacular auroras like this one, visible at higher northern latitudes.
