SUMMARY:Robert Glasper Experiment with special guest Vagabond Swing
DESCRIPTION:&quot\;Jazz at The Kessler&quot\; with Robert Glasper
 Experiment\n
 \n
“Real music is crash protected\,” state the liner notes of
Black Radio\, a future landmark album by the Robert Glasper
Experiment that boldly stakes out new musical territory and
transcends any notion of genre\, drawing from jazz\, hip-hop\,
R&amp\;B and rock\, but refusing to be pinned down by any one
tag. Like an aircraft‟s black box for which the album is
titled\, Black Radio holds the truth and is indestructible.\n
 \n
With Black Radio\, the Experiment band has fully arrived.
Featuring Glasper on piano and Fender Rhodes\, Casey Benjamin on
vocoder and saxophone\, Derrick Hodge on electric bass\, and
Chris Dave on drums\, the band is plugged in and open source.
Each of the band members is prodigiously talented and lives
naturally in multiple musical worlds\, distilling countless
influences into a singular voice. “That‟s what makes this
band unique\,” says Glasper. “We can go anywhere\, literally
anywhere\, we want to go. We all have musical ADD and we love
 it.” \n
 \n
2010 GRAMMY (Best Urban/Alternative Performance) nominee Robert
Glasper continues to make waves throughout the music world as
leader of the electric\, hip-hop-influenced Robert Glasper
Experiment. Glasper “shows why cats from Mos Def to Roy
Hargrove have sought him out-proving that subtlety and soul are
natural allies” (VIBE). His latest Blue Note Records release\,
Double-Booked (2009)\, displays this enviable versatility front
 and center.\n
 \n
Glasper has worked extensively with Q-Tip\, playing on the
rapper&#039\;s Grammy nominated 2008 album The Renaissance and
co-writing the album&#039\;s single “Life Is Better” which
features Norah Jones. Glasper also serves as the Music Director
in rapper Mos Def&#039\;s touring band\, and tours with the
 multi-platinum R&amp\;B singer Maxwell.\n
 \n
When not busy with his own band or as a producer\, he has also
performed or collaborated with The Roots\, Talib Kweli\, Common\,
 J Dilla\, Erykah Badu\, Kanye West\, Ledisi\, Phonte (Little
 Brother)\, Stokley (Mint Condition)\, Jay-Z\, Beyonce\, and
 Stevie Wonder.\n
 \n
Black Radio is released on February 28\, and Robert Glasper
appears at The Kessler Theater on March 2.\n
 \n
Special guest Vagabond Swing are making their second appearance
 at The Kessler. \n
