Joel was progamme manager on the Microsoft Excel team in the early 90s, completely revamping the product and creating what would later become Visual Basic for Applications.    Describing himself as having 'been ranting about software development, management, business and the internet since 2000' he reassures his readers that his well-recognised blog is not 'a blog about blogging'!
