99 years ago, a remarkable premiere of experimental dance & music stunned Paris society. A performance of primitive rhythms propelled a ballet themed around a sacred ancestral ritual, the sacrifice of a beautiful young woman to the god of Spring. The pagans on stage made pagans of the audience. While women in the audience tore at their clothes, the rest of the theater erupted into a chaotic riot.
