Also keep in mind our annual post-run pilgrimage to Rutt’s Hut for hot dogs and beer after the race!
All details are on the Lincoln Tunnel 5k website, but please reach out to me with any questions.
Thank you all for your support!
-Michael
P.S. This event welcomes everyone and is much more of a fundraiser than a race. Walkers and baby strollers are welcome to participate - how often do you get the chance to run/walk inside the Lincoln Tunnel!?!?!?! Runners and walkers alike will join over 1,000 other supporters for this event, and Team Papa will host a slew of runners. This team is open to anyone, so please pass along to friends and family!
Team Papa
Michael Rosenmertz, is the captain for Team Papa which he formed with his nephew 7 years ago. During that time, Michael’s father, a long time supporter of the Special Olympics of New Jersey, was unable to volunteer as normal because he was battling cancer. The duo decided to run the event in his honor and decided on the name “Team Papa” as all of his grandchildren called him “Papa.” The team continues to grow each year and had over 80 members in ’09, ’10 and '11. Each year "Papa" joins us as well for post run fun!
The Lincoln Tunnel 5k & SONJ
All proceeds from the Lincoln Tunnel Challenge benefit Special Olympics New Jersey athletes and help foster the Special Olympics mission:
To provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Currently, there are more than 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities that train and compete throughout New Jersey in 24 sports, participating in more than 160 competitive events!
