Dallas Neo-Classical Ballet will be presenting its first full-length ballet, Kaguya-Hime, this spring. The plot is derived from a 10th century Japanese folktale, "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter," and is considered the oldest extant Japanese narrative.

This transcendent story follows the life of Kaguya-Hime, the Moon Princess. Sent to Earth as an infant, she is found by the Bamboo Cutter, Taketori no Okina, who raises her as his own. When she matures to adulthood, the neighboring princes begin to notice her extraordinary beauty and flock to her, attempting to win her heart and her love. Even the Emperor finds himself falling for Kaguya-Hime, trying to gain her affection. But it's all to no avail, as Kaguya-Hime's heart belongs only to the moon.

Featuring work by our Art Director, Gregory Ruppe; Costume design by Kennetha Woods and Misako Kushibe and a performance by guest company, DGDG (Danielle Georgiou Dance Group).

Free parking is available at the corner of 10th & Tyler Street behind Grace Temple Baptist Church. Patrons can also park alongside Tyler St. on both sides and at the meters on Jefferson Blvd.
