Born in Belarus, Yuri Foreman took up boxing at age seven in response to the widespread antisemitism he faced in school. After moving to Israel following the collapse of the Soviet Union, he continued to train and went on to win three national boxing championships before moving to Brooklyn in 1999 and beginning his professional career. Two years ago -- at age 29 -- Yuri defeated Daniel Santos to become the new WBA super welterweight champion, making him Israel's first ever WBA champion and the first Orthodox Jew to own a world boxing title since 1935. Now training to be a Lubavitch rabbi in addition to a world champion fighter, Yuri's amazing story is certain to inspire us all.
