We are hosting this twitter party just before the Windows phone camp to tell you all about our competition named "Apps for a Cause"
The contest, “Apps for a Cause”, is being organized by the Microsoft Egypt Citizenship team and is a sub-competition being introduced for developers attending the Microsoft Windows Phone Camp.
To participate in the “Apps for a Cause” competition, you are supposed to develop an application that has the main goal of helping the community and addressing one of the world’s major problems.
Any student or attendee who is attending the Phone Camp and has the ability to develop a functional application for Windows Phone can participate.
We will be more than happy to answer all your questions and provide you with all the information you need.
Rules and guidelines
• You need to register to attend the Phone Camp:
https://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/EventDetail.aspx?culture=en-EG&EventID=1032503020&IO=NprI6qrF5QJFNI1Th4d%2BOg%3D%3D
• You can prepare the idea and start working on it from now (you don’t need to start working on it during the contest)
• Registration will be for individuals; no teams are allowed
• Your application should clearly demonstrate how it helps improve the community in terms of a particular issue (e.g. health, education, environment, literacy).
• You need to register your information at the Microsoft Egypt Citizenship booth once you arrive to the event. At the booth you will be able to interact with students who have successfully developed their own “apps for a cause” – including solutions managing water usage and for coordinating blood donations.
• The application should not contain any content for which you do not have the copyrights.
• You must deliver your application as early as possible during the second day of the event for testing and rating.
• You can ask for help at any time during the event from the Microsoft Egypt Citizenship booth.
• In order your application would pass the testing and be ready for winning you need to do the following:
Deliver your application as early as possible in the second day so it would pass the manual testing process.
Submit your application on
www.yallaapps.com so it can be published on the marketplace.
Applications that require servers or additional infrastructure and publishing will not be feasible for it at the required time will need to deliver their prototype to the manual testing and receive approval to continue. (instead of the
www.yallaapps.com submitting )
Applications that will be submitted on
www.yallaapps.com will require that you continue the process until it is published.
In case of winning and your application was submitted to
www.yallaapps.com you will be asked to publish it to the marketplace ASAP and you will receive help and guidance for that.
• You totally own the application and at any time Microsoft will not ask you for any rights or partnership without your request.
Prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place winners.
Elimination
• If the idea is not targeting a cause that would help people.
• If the application does not pass the manual testing process.
