Friends and family,
Next summer, I am going to get on a bike and pedal over 4,500 miles in 70 days from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to fight cancer with Texas 4000.
Texas 4000 is a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting cancer by sharing Hope, Knowledge, and Charity. During our journey, we stop in communities to give programs to schools in an effort to spread cancer awareness and knowledge. We visit cancer patients in hospitals to inspire hope. And we raise money—at least $4,500 per rider, a dollar for every mile we ride—to donate to MD Anderson Cancer Center, who uses it to help those affected by cancer and perform cancer research.
For the first time in Texas 4000 history, I will be joined by ninety-three other riders and, in addition to the Coastal and Rockies routes, we will be riding a third route through the Heartland of the United States.
As a team, our goal is raise $600,000 for cancer research. Currently, $0.92 of every $1.00 donated is given to the amazing researchers at MD Anderson and we are working diligently on improving that number.
This ride from Austin to Anchorage is very special to me. Like the millions of people who are affected by cancer, I am familiar with the misfortunes that life can dish out. Please take a look at why I ride at
