KC Cache Dash is a scavenger hunt based on GPS technology and social media connectivity, designed to promote awareness and support for local Kansas City-based charities. Presented by Garmin, OpenCaching.com and Land Rover Merriam, KC Cache Dash will educate the community about geocaching, a family-friendly activity that combines exercise and technology, by giving them an opportunity to follow the action and try this activity for themselves.
Objective: 4 teams, comprised of a social media celebrity, charity social advocate, and a geocaching expert will scour Kansas City on March 24th in an attempt to locate hidden geocaches. Placed at local parks, sports venues, and prominent KC landmarks, the team that collects the most points before the challenge is over wins. Each cache will be assigned a points value based on difficulty and distance from finish line. In addition, teams will have flash-caches throughout the day offering additional opportunity to gain points. Teams will be competing for bragging rights and to support local KC charities.
