6:30-8 - Digital storytelling workshop:
Storytelling is a powerful tool. Stories allow us to share our experiences and challenge our current perceptions, and in doing so, find commonalities between ourselves and other people.
As educators working in the field of digital storytelling, the presenters' goals are twofold: first, to empower people by placing the tools for multimedia storytelling in their hands, and second, to create a user-friendly experience that can be easily replicated in the future. This process of “sustainable storytelling” teaches employable technical skills while empowering participants to take ownership of their life narrative.
This presentation will discuss the importance of storytelling, define digital storytelling and discuss free or low-cost methods for implementing it, and empower your organizations to utilize digital storytelling to fundraise, educate supporters, and teach clients valuable skills. Participants will also be invited to take part in a collectively produced digital story that will be published online on behalf of YNPN.
Attendees can bring their smartphones, computers, or other devices if they like, but it is not necessary.
