INDePth 2012 is a brand new student run and driven conference on sustainable development, being held at the University of Toronto. We focus on four streams: Health Science Innovation, Canadian Aid Policy, Mining, and Agribusiness.
INDePth is unique in that it is largely workshop driven. Though we have three expert panels, the conference aims to ask students from different disciplines, all interested in development, to collaboratively understand what sustainable development looks like. Moreover, we have several unconference portions which allow for free range discussion on development--please come out and bring your ideas and opinions with you!
Finally, a discussion is on development is incomplete with only Canadian participants. As this year's case study is Indonesia, we have invited colleagues from Universitas Gadjah Mada to participate. UGM is the top university in Indonesia and the three students that are coming have done extensive field research on Agribusiness in Indonesia.
If you are a non-U of T student, we encourage your participation! Travel subsidies are available for students from
- McGill
- Carleton
- University of Ottawa
- University of Waterloo
- University of Alberta
- University of British Columbia
and others. Please contact indepthconference@gmail.com for more details.
