Different continents, different people UNITED AS one voice for
DEMOCRACY, FREEDOM AND HUMAN DIGNITY IN SYRIA
For some People “Spring” has not arrived yet. The blood bath in Syria seems to have no end.
For those Syrians who dared to join the dream of a democratic future which was sweeping the Middle East and North Africa have been subjected to extreme brutality at the hands of the Assad regime.
Despite initial commitments and reassurances concerning the immediate adoption of democratic reforms, the course so far suggests the Assad regime has closed its mind to the voices of its people out of fear of losing power.
The International Young Democrat Union, the global organisation for centre-right youth, has been closely monitoring developments across the region from day one, expressing at the same time its support and sympathy to the young people on the front line.
The IYDU has called repeatedly on the international community to look beyond their own private interests and proceed together united by condemning the Syrian regime and taking decisive action against it through economic and diplomatic isolation.
The IYDU has also called on the international community to have the Syrian dictator brought before the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, in order for justice to be done for the crimes he has committed, and is still committing, against the people of Syria.
But all words lose their real meaning, if not followed by decisive action.
The International Young Democrat Union calls upon its members and their friends across the world to stand together on 2nd March 2012 as part of its Global Manifestation outside Syrian Embassies to send Assad and his regime a clear message that we are watching, that we condemn
the brutality he has exercised on his people, and that a new and different future begins now.
Democracy in Syria cannot wait!
