SUMMARY:Austin NetSquared Meetup Group Monthly Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Who: People interested in finding the other people working on
projects addressing real-world problems (Innovators\, Community

 \n
What: Designing Environments For Social Innovation\n
 \n
 ****\n
 \n
 Greetings everybody\,\n
 \n
Gordon Montgomery (@gmeta) your organizer here with a quick word
 about the next event format.\n
 \n
In an attempt to lift-off from the fantastic energy and feedback
 of recent events\,\n
 \n
this month&#039\;s event will provide a forum for Social
Innovators\, Entrepreneurs and Technologists interested in
contributing to the direction of future projects. Please be sure
to read the agenda below and be prepared to participate.\n
 \n
 Goals of the meeting:\n
 \n
 1. Cultivate ideas for designing an environment to help
 accelerate\n
 \n
 the development and lift-off of social-benefit Projects\n
 \n
 The Meeting Format:\n
 \n
 6:30pm: Open networking\n
 \n
 1. Introductions\n
 \n
 2. Self-organizing based on experience/expertise\n
 \n
 3. What’s broken with the way we design\, develop and launch
 our Projects?\n
 \n
 4. Group Presos. Volunteer reports findings back to the group.\n
 \n
 5. Summary:\n
 \n
Designing an environment for community-based innovation\n
 \n
-- What happens if we’re wildly successful in designing an
 environment for Pro-Social Projects\n
 \n
-- What’s unique about our particular environment here in
Austin as it relates to our focus?\n
 \n
 6. Defining Net Tuesday Community Roles\n
 \n
 7. Easy Next Steps\n
 \n
 Participation Guidelines:\n
 \n
 1. Inclusion.\n
 \n
We’re committed to making sure we approach opportunities in
 an inclusive way.\n
 \n
A simple rule of thumb to help maintain this value throughout the
event is to ensure your ideas and contributions allow for a broad
range of community participation across both the private and
public sector\, and aren’t limited to any single
 constituency.\n
 \n
 2. Impactful.\n
 \n
Does your suggestion/ideas create real social impact?\n
 \n
 3. Achievable.\n
 \n
Are your suggestions achievable based on the current local
resources\, and our existing collective capacity?\n
 \n
 4. Teachable.\n
 \n
Does your suggestion allow us to ‘teach’ as we go?\n
 \n
 5. Scalable.\n
 \n
Everything doesn&#039\;t need to scale\, but it&#039\;s important
to think about scaleability as we brainstorm\, as the ultimate
goal here is to develop a model that can be distributed to cities
 beyond Austin.\n
 \n
What Net Squared is bringing to the party:\n
 \n
 * 20 years of experience serving technology needs of nonprofits\n
 \n
 * Relationships with &gt\;35 technology companies at TechSoup
 Stock\, including Adobe\, Microsoft\, Business Objects\, etc.\n
 \n
 * ~ 15\,000 people registered users at net2 from every
continent\, interested in the web’s impact on civil
 society\n
 \n
 * A committed team http://www.netsquared.... to help make this
 work a success\n
 \n
 * Access to Organizers of Net Tuesday events in more than 20
other cities around the globe who meet up face-to-face every
month to work on similar problems and solutions\n
 \n
 * Techsoup.org (site/resource) that currently reaches ~100k
organizations via email\, community forums and a blog\n
 \n
 Who should attend?\n
 \n
Innovators. Building a project that has the potential to change
the way your industry works in addressing a real-world problem?\n
 \n
Masters. Have you had success building an approach to solving
real-world problems that managed to do good by employees\, the
local community\, and your bottom-line? We want to hear your
 stories.\n
 \n
If you have suggestions for speakers at this event\, or future
events\, please send your suggestions to Billy Bicket at
 billybicket@yahoo.com.\n
 \n
 Background.\n
 \n
Net Tuesday is the face-to-face event series brought to you by
 NetSquared.org.\n
 \n
NetSquared is an initiative of TechSoup.org\, a 501c-3 technology
project based out of San Francisco\, CA.\n
 \n
Currently\, more than (21) cities are meeting up to discuss new
 ways to approach old problems.\n
 \n
Much needs to be learned about operating in a networked-era --
even more needs to be discovered -- and opportunities for new
 Projects await us.\n
