How do you fund your ideas? Eric and Ko, founders of Hiya Tea, knew a great idea when they saw it. With the help of Ko’s father, an inventor and organic chemist, the team was able to develop a recipe for cold-brewing success. Hiya Tea was born.
Known as “the fastest cold brewing tea in the world”, Eric and Ko capitalized on their idea by taking it to the people to get funded, through a crowdfunding platform called Kickstarter. Their idea was so successful, it raised 699% of their goal by people in 26 countries and 45 states.
The team is in Hawaii this week on business and we want to share their story with you. We’ll get to know Eric and Ko, where they came from, how they pursued their idea and successfully funded the next steps of their tea business.
We’ll take a look into how Kickstarter works, what worked for Hiya Tea and where their going with the funds that were raised. In addition to insight and their experiences, Eric and Ko will be showing us back-end metrics on their campaign and never before released photos and videos behind the scenes.
During our discussion, we’ll hear from L.A. based branding and social media maven, Mike Prasad, what he looks for when backing a company and ways to improve your Kickstarter efforts. Mike was one of the top 20 backers in the world for 2011 and has backed 240 projects on Kickstarter.
