Chirag Patel will explain how he is conducting lean methodology at Halo Monitoring for a 2nd generation product after learning from the mistakes of the traditional product development approach with his 1st generation product. The working title is "Layman's Guide to Lean Startup" and will provide an overview of lean methodology and explain why the lean approach is encouraged. This meetup is NOT limited to startups, anyone can attend to learn about lean methodology to apply in non-startup situations like Halo is doing.
Bernhard Kappe (founder, Chicago Lean Startup Circle) will offer 10 minutes of critique of Chirag's approach. Also, see Harvard Business Review's "Teaching a Lean Startup Strategy"
Also if you live in the midwest and happen to be in a health tech start-up that you want to take to the next level, you'll soon be able to enter the 2nd Annual Chicago Health 2.0/Tech Startup Pitch contest and have the chance to win a cash prize and meetings with investors and other health tech entrprenuers. Our contest will also excellent preparation for applications at health tech accelerator programs such as Chicago's Healthbox, SF's Rock Health, and NYC's Blueprint, who will all have programs that begin in Jan 2013. This year, we will be teaming with the Chicago Lean Startup Challenge, which Bernhard is organizing.
Although we do not require lean methodology, we encourage it to achieve both stakeholder validation and development. At this meetup, we will also the details of the annual Chicago Health 2.0/Tech Conference on Sept 28-29.
