Please join the MIT Club of New York, the Hub NYC, the MIT Public Service Center and Liquidnet in kicking off this year's MIT IDEAS Global Challenge on Tuesday, March 6. Expect an inspiring evening where you’ll learn about the annual IDEAS Global Challenge and hear from three student-led teams developing innovative solutions to positively impact underserved populations. The teams include: · Safe Water World Disseminating a low-cost microbial water testing kit that enables simple and accurate testing and improves the data collection on water quality worldwide; · Advanced, Low-Cost Autoclave Solutions (ALCAS) Bringing cost-effective, easy-to-use, and portable medical instrument sterilization to Nepal and India’s rural hospitals; · Low Cost Curriculum for the Blind (LCCB) Designing low-cost tools and materials that improve the quality of math and science education for blind students in Lebanon, Kenya and the United States. At the end of the evening, attendees can “donate” their skills, networks and knowledge to help these three teams and others in the competition advance their work. To start thinking about how you’d like to help, check out the Help Wanted ads: http://globalchallenge.mit.edu/help/wanted Then join us in person: Tuesday, March 6, 6:00-8:30 p.m. Liquidnet, 498 Seventh Avenue, 15th floor, New York Cost: $10 all attendees RSVP by March 5 Refreshments will be served. Seating is limited and, due to security, no registrations will be accepted on the evening of the event. We especially invite attendees with experience working with underserved populations, domestically and internationally, and those with an entrepreneurial background, a technical expertise to share, connections with governments or social impact organizations, and those interested in mentoring teams in the future.
