Dearest friends and family,
On June 1, 2013, myself and 90 other students from the University of Texas will embark on the journey of a lifetime as we BIKE from Austin to Anchorage, Alaska. Over the course of 70 days we will each bike 4500 miles across the United States spreading Hope, Knowledge, and Charity for the fight against cancer. But we can't do it alone, we need your help!
Please message me your mailing address to help me advance my cause!
As a member of the 2013 LIVESTRONG Texas 4000 for Cancer team, I am riding in the world’s longest annual charity bike ride. With nine teams that have come before us, this organization has already donated millions of dollars for cancer research, with much of that going to the amazing M.D. Anderson cancer treatment & research hospital in Houston.
Along our ride, we will stop in cities, towns, churches, schools, community meetings, and at cancer-fighting events to put on programs about cancer-awareness. We will speak to others about the early detection and prevention of cancer, and inspire hope in those affected by cancer that we meet along the way. Our team will split into three groups; one group will travel along the West Coast, one will travel through the Rockies, and a third will travel through the Heartland in order to reach the most people that we can with our message.
For the first time in Texas 4000 history, we are able to reach even more people through our new third route. We continue to grow every year, donating more and touching more lives. My teammates and I will spend the next year planning all the details for our entire summer. We will be responsible for finding housing and food along the way, securing media opportunities, preparing a program, volunteering, and of course training. However, we can't do it alone. In order to make this trip successful, we need your help.

Even if you can't donate, you can help by inviting others to this event to spread the word! Tell your family, friends, and coworkers. The more people who hear about our mission the better! I know it's cliche but it's true EVERY PENNY COUNTS. Whatever you can do to contribute goes further than you think and you have no idea have appreciated it is.
We dedicate every workout we do, every meeting we have, and every day of our journey to someone we know who has dealt with cancer. I would love to hear your story and remember you or your loved one along the way. Please send me an email at jayshahtx@gmail.com or feel free to Facebook message at any time.
