Prof. Shay Fuchs will discuss Large and Small Sets of Numbers in our next Academic Seminar!
Remember cardinality from MAT102? This talk will expand on what you've learned adding a little twist. Grab dinner afterwards with complementary pizza.
Abstract:
Which sets of numbers are considered to be large? Is the set of rational numbers considered large? How about the set of irrationals, or the integers?
The answers will depend, of course, on your point of view! The topologist, the analyst and the set theorist may have different answers to these questions.
In this talk, we will explore the different points of view, and examine some really weird sets!
