Marius Eriksen will talk about the construction of Twitter's modern, highly concurrent Scala services. He will discuss the various libraries that make up the Twitter stack, and how these primitives help use create correct, composable and modular systems. He will discuss various challenges Twitter ran in to, especially regarding efficiency. Mark McBride will speak on Twitter's build system.
Marius works on systems infrastructure at Twitter. He has worked on RPC and streaming systems, profiling tools, storage & indexing systems and the front-end serving stack. He loves applying functional programming techniques to these domains. Marius is the author of Effective Scala. Mark McBride is an engineering manager at Twitter.
