A panel discussion on the history of infiltration of social movements from Cointelpro to the Green Scare to attacks on the Muslim community, student groups and the Occupy movement. Come and hear from activists who have dealt with agents, infiltrators and provocateurs in the past, how they were successful (and less than successful) in opposing repression and how activists today can learn from their successes and mistakes. We will look at how contradictions that exist within ourselves are the primary way that the State is able to infiltrate and damage our movements. Learn how to confront state repression and disruption that can tear our movements apart.
The panel will be followed by a facilitated discussion on how to deal with dysfunctional internal dynamics and oppressive behavior (such as racism, sexism, heteronormativity, ageism and more) that can pull us apart with or without the help of the state.
Speakers will be representing:
Arab Resource Organizing Center
Committee to Stop Political Repression
National Lawyers Guild
Occupy Oakland Political Repression Committee
Presented by the Occupy Legal Popular Education Committee
