Friends-
My life has been so blessed by your presence and by my ease of body and mind, and now I turn to use these advantages to combat one of the great terrors of our age: cancer. Its evil is known and widespread, and I have made the commitment to assail it by biking over 4500 miles from Austin, TX to Anchorage, AK in the summer of 2013!
I am a member of the LiveStrong Texas 4000 for Cancer team, a non-profit student organization here at UT and the longest annual charity bike ride in the world. Over the course of 70 days, me and 90 of my teammates will journey across North America to spread hope and inspiration to those affected by cancer and their families and friends. We aim to bring a tangible taste of knowledge and charity to this fight, accomplished in part by delivering informational programs along the way and reaching out to all the communities we will pass through.
We will be the tenth team to undertake this quest, and are expanding to include a third route: one group will pass along the California coast, another through the Rocky Mountains, and the newest addition being through America's Heartland. With this new route, we will be able to reach an even greater audience for our passion.
One of Texas 4000's pillars is charity (my team's fundraising goal is $600,000) which benefits the American Cancer Society and the renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. 92% of donations go directly to cancer research, and that percentage is on the rise! I personally aim to raise $10,000, a goal I certainly cannot accomplish without your help.
Thus I come to my friends, asking you to donate for my cause if you have anything to give. *Anything is appreciated!* Help me in this fight, that cancer might be vanquished!
