LIVE ROCK KARAOKE is on the first Wednesday of every month, from 9pm to 11pm. To sing you must register from 8:00pm to 8:30pm. Cover charge is $6.00 for entrants and audience.
What is LIVE ROCK KARAOKE?: Its a chance to get your ya-ya's out and belt out a tune and impress your friends and the audience, backed by an awesome band of seasoned musicians called THE GARGLEBLASTERS. Its a participatory as well as a spectator event. Please be polite and supportive to those on stage. The idea is for everyone to have fun and hear some great songs (and umm...drink some tasty beverages too!!!). Bring out your friends, relatives, co-workers and supporters to cheer you on. This type of thing has been happening in New York and Amsterdam for many years and the events are always packed and participants get there early to ensure they have a chance to sing.
Who's in the band?: THE GARGLEBLASTERS features FRED GUIGNON (guitars), GLEN RUSSELL (guitars), BARRY MEREDITH (bass), GILLES MANTHA (drums).
Who's the MC?: The inimitable man-about-town REMI ROYALE himself!!!
How does it work?: There is a list of songs that are posted below. Learn the lyrics of the song that interests you and then head down to Zaphod's on the first Wednesday of every month at 8:00pm and register your name and the song you'd like to sing from this list. First come, first served. When your turn comes, we'll call you up and you get to be a rock star. Give it all you've got. We'll even have cue cards with the lyrics if you need them.
Who can register?: Anyone is welcome, age 19+. Closet rock stars are encouraged, as well as members of other bands that may just want to have some fun singing. We especially encourage musicians that aren't the singers in other bands to have some fun singing with THE GARGLEBLASTERS.
