Hackathons are events when programmers and designers meet to work collaboratively to build programs and applications. The day will begin with short presentations by educators and non-profit organizations, followed by informational sessions on building sites and web applications to help benefit non-profit organizations. SCHEDULE: 09:00am - Sign in / Coffee and Refreshments 09:30am - Opening message; review the day's process 09:45am - Brief presentations from non-profit groups 10:00am - Brainstorm ideas for web and/or mobile tools or apps; Divide into groups to develop projects. 10:15am - Break 10:30am - Develop design, programming and production plan and assignments; begin design and development. 12:15pm - Lunch break 01:15pm - Project development 04:15pm - Finalization and testing 05:00pm - Present projects to judges 05:20pm - Hackathon winner announced If you have a great coding and design mindset, put your talents to the task and help create tools to solve local community needs. Project MONA Project MONA's goals are to save wild primates that have been illegally captured and are being used for commercial and personal purposes under bad living conditions. The foundation works to promote understand and respect for wild animals and their need to live in their natural habitat. Oxfam International Oxfam is an international confederation of 17 organizations networked together in 92 countries, as part of a global movement for change, to build a future free from the injustice of poverty. Teams will compete to deliver the most compelling and appealing solutions, and the winning team members will win a free day conference pass to WebVisions for Fri., July 6 and Sat., July 7, where the Hackathon winners will be announced on the Main Stage. The Hackathon for Social Good is held during WebVisions Barcelona, a nationally recognized event that explores the future of Web and mobile design, technology, user experience and business strategy.
