For our April meetup, we are happy to welcome Dario Laverde, from the HTCdev team, who offered to tell us about HTC OpenSense SDK - and what it really means for the Android developer.
HTC is updating it's OpenSense SDK with additional APIs announced at Mobile World Congress. This includes a new lock screen API, new common controls, sound enhancement support and much more. This is in addition to the current offering which includes the Stereoscopic 3D and Scribe Pen APIs. Â So why develop with this SDK? Â We'll take a look at this SDK or more accurately, this add-on to the Android SDK and show you how it provides differentiation with increased market outreach as opposed to vendor lock in and fragmentation. We'll explore compatibility best practices across platform versions and devices, giving you the ability to fall back gracefully and to manage releases across Android devices from a common code base. HTCdev is a developer program for developers by developers, so we understand the pain points of developing applications that target as many devices, form factors and Android API levels as possible.
The rough agenda for the evening looks like this:
6:00-6:25pm: Arrive and mingle (food/drinks provided)
6:25-6:30pm: Announcements
6:30-6:45pm: Lightning talks (apply via comments)
6:45-7:45pm: Dario's presentation
7:45-8:00pm: Q&A, wrap-up, and giveaways
As always, food, drinks, and giveaways will be provided by our sponsors.
Oh, and we'll also give away two HTC phones and two tablets to the lucky winners :-)
