Do you want to process petabytes with Python? Then be sure to come to our April meetup, where Ryan Nowakowski will talk about Disco, the Erlang+Python MapReduce distributed computing framework!
We'll start with a discussion of MapReduce and the kinds of big data problems it's good at handling, followed by an overview of Disco and why it's awesome (compare and contrast with Hadoop). Ryan will show a demo of the canonical "word count" problem using Disco, and at the end, he will talk about how Qualcomm is using Disco.
We also have time for lightning talks, so please send me an email and let me know if you want to talk about something cool you've been working on!
