Full Description
Talk 1 - Optimizing Product-Focused Processes for Engineers and Designers, Malcolm Ong, CTO of SkillShare
As a technical leader, CTO, or even somebody not in formal leadership position, part of your responsibilities to your team is to help improve the product development process. Work smarter, not harder and foster more innovation.
While Agile is a software development process, Malcolm will show why and how it's better to have a more Product focused process.
We'll cover the following Product philosophy / process topics:
Product strategy and vision
3/1 process
Continuous deployment, never launching, and failing fast
Being mini-CEO's in your company
Being solution driven
Relentless focus & simplicity
Gettings things done
Continuous learning
Team Communication
This talk will be a shorter version of class Malcolm is teaching at SkillShare  Â

Talk 2 - Pressing The Big Scary Red Reset Button, Daniel Doubrovkine, Head of Engineering, Art.sy
A CTO is responsible for the company's technical vision. The excitement of stepping into this role is often shadowed by the harsh reality of failing projects that ran many times over budget, obsolete technology choices made by your predecessor, fleeing customers, panicking executives, crumbling architectures and demotivated teams. It's a challenge! Time to make difficult decisions and press the big, scary, red reset button. In this talk, we'll examine a few examples that lead to resets of hopeless projects, consequences of such decisions, project successes and failures. We'll also propose ways to introduce resets in a more positive light and examine how that can impact outcomes.
Daniel Doubrovkine (aka dB.) founded and sold a start-up in the early 90s and completely failed another. He was development lead at Microsoft Corp., Director at Kleiner Perkins Visible Path, Architect and Development Manager at AppSecInc., an Enterprise Software company. Daniel is an open-source cheerleader and avid tech blogger and currently serves as Head of Engineering at Art.sy.
