Most software teams attempt to optimize for the amount of software that they can deliver, but this isn't always what is needed for the success of a startup. By embracing the constraints around us we can often do less to ship more.
This talk will explore principles learned from the world of Lean Manufacturing such as managing work in progress as well as optimizing throughput of the entire team, not just the developers, in an effort to produce the highest quality software in the shortest amount of time.
Josh Knowles is currently the Managing Director of the New York office of Pivotal Labs, an agile consulting firm focused on enabling teams to deliver high-quality software. In addition to his work at Pivotal Josh is the lead organizer of nyc.rb, one of the longest running Ruby Users Groups in the country, as well as the Gotham Ruby Conference.
