That's right! This Saturday come out for SCA's first FREE RIDE of the year!
We meet @ 10am and will be taking off at 10:30. It's best to show up a bit early if you'd like something to eat or drink before the ride.
Route - TBD, but expect some chill vibes and chill rides. This week we will be heading to Houndstooth Coffee on North Lamar (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Houndstooth-Coffee/128303300549484), and probably a trailer establishment afterwords for some lunch. Swimming? Maybe. We like to keep these rides fluid, so feel free to participate and suggest something! Feel free to ride until the very end or break off when you want. This ride is a no-drop ride, which means we do not leave anyone behind. Be sure to speak up if you are having trouble keeping the pace or experience bike issues.
How: Social Cycling Austin rides AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don't block intersections. We are cool to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. If you need to brush up on the rules, click here:
http://bicycleaustin.info/laws/austin.html
What you need: Your bike, spare tubes and tools help, a lock, cash to tip your baristas (the RIDE is FREE...the beans and brews are not), and a helmet cuz they're the coolest.
REMINDER: The goal has always been to create a safe environment for all riders, but we cannot control, nor do we desire to, every rider's behavior. We promote personal responsibility, and it is each rider's responsibility to take care of themselves, and if they choose to ride with us, then they accept those risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles.
