Martha has been working exclusively in Government online communications for over a decade. During that time she has seen the growth and evolution of the web as a primary communications channel along with the rise of new technology and social media as ways to widen our reach and engage with our audience.
From the early stages of the Government of Canada's Government Online initiative to reshaping Web management and communication, Martha is working to help support and transform Government communications online.
Martha has always held a deep interest in how communications and communities can be better used by government to inform, serve, and engage citizens at home and abroad. Managing an online presence of over 140 Embassies and offices abroad in over 30 languages, Martha has extensive experience in areas such as content management and web governance and is now integrating the realities that new media brings to the worlds of digital diplomacy and online advocacy.
An active member of the Government of Canada User-Experience Working Group, Martha led the Content stream and spearheaded the "Reduce the ROT Challenge."
Passionate about her work, Martha believes the web and social media should be at the forefront of government communication, information and service delivery, and engagement.
