The 7th annual Local Colours Festival is brought to you by the Comox Valley Community Arts Council and will feature events throughout downtown Courtenay between July 20 and 21. All participants will be local to the Comox Valley - painters, photographers, carvers, potters, weavers, sculptors, videographers,
dancers, musicians, singers, actors, and other artists, artisans and craftspeople will create, perform and demonstrate their talents.
Local visual artists will be creating on the street 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, July 20, then again on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturday, the visual artists will be joined by a variety of performing acts on two stages: the main Arts Council stage at the corner of Fifth Street and England Avenue, and a stage set up in the Sid Williams Plaza. There is also music planned for the 4th Street Square,
demonstrations will be put on by the Potter's Club, CVAG has tons of art activities scheduled on the plaza and the Comox Valley Writers Society has a theatre café planned. In addition, surprise street performances will show up unexpectedly, and there will be fun activities for kids, along an arts theme.
