UArts and AIGA Philadelphia are hosting Art Chantry to speak at our end of year portfolio review. The idea is to take something that can get a little stuffy (student portfolio reviews) and make it more fun. What we came up with is Art giving an inspirational talk followed by a reception featuring the work of our graduating Illustration Seniors and a nice bit of food and drink. No big sets of eyes looking over a stark table desperately seeking approval, just some great illustrations and hopefully a good mix of Philadelphia's design community (you).
We've received a great response! Our talk with Art Chantry is now full. The reception in the 16th Floor Black Box Theatre is a larger space. Even if you do not have a ticket to the Chantry lecture, please do join us for the reception at 6:30 to enjoy food, drinks, and portfolios from our graduating class.
Hope to see you there!
About Art Chantry:
"Art Chantry is a Northwestern graphic designer whose lo-fi, high contrast designs have influenced a generation or two of poster artists. He rose to prominence in Seattle, first at The Rocket and then through his posters for bands big and small, including Nirvana, Gang of Four and many many others. Chantry really pioneered the use of mistakes, misprints, "low" visual culture and found imagery in graphic design." -PictureBox
