Basant is the festival of kite flying in Pakistan and is celebrated at the beginning of spring every year. APA invites you to BASANT this Saturday, 21 April 2012 on the RezQuad from 12:30 to 2:00 pm. No previous kite flying experience necessary. The kite flying will be followed by the Holi celebration at 2:00 PM.
AFTER Basant stay to partake in one of India's most fun festivals.
Every year, thousands of Hindus participate in the festival Holi. The festival has many purposes. First and foremost, it celebrates the beginning of the new season, spring. Originally, it was a festival that commemorated good harvests and the fertile land. Hindus believe it is a time of enjoying spring's abundant colors and saying farewell to winter. It also has a religious purpose, commemorating the salvage of a Vishnu devotee from a fire that killed the demoness Holika.
Traditional Pakistani and Indian snacks and beverages will be served.
We will be selling t-shirts the week of Holi for $6. Get pumped!
