Nationally acclaimed touring poets, Andrea Gibson and Lauren Zuniga will be performing poems on the same stage at the University of Oklahoma on Graduation Day, Mothers Day weekend, the day you need to move out of the dorms, your cousin's wedding weekend, the night your girlfriend tells you she wants to see other people, when you can't stand being in Oklahoma and you think nothing good ever happens here.
It will be hilarious and gut wrenching and the perfect thing for you to bring your parents before you tell them you are gay, you just got your degree and now you are going to buy a van and travel the country with an electronic folk band, you got an internship at Mother Jones, you want to be a mime, you are leaving the church and it was you that stole your mother's garden gnome and painted it to look like Tina Turner.
This event is brought to you by OU Write Club, Students for a Democratic Society, GLBTF and the Coalition for Gender Neutral Housing.
(We know there is a lot going on this day but this is a once in a lifetime performance and we promise there will be at least one poem appropriate for Republican moms. )
Doors open at 6:30pm. The show is by suggested donation of $5-$15. Andrea and Lauren will have books and CDs for sale.
{Lauren will have her new book, The Smell of Good Mud, FRESH OFF THE PRESS and not available anywhere else.}
It is open to the public. PLEASE COME AND FILL THESE SEATS!
