Nursing Home is an electronic alternative rock band that blends elements of progressive, glam, and Goth aesthetics into their live performances. The band came into existence after the break up of Justin Symbol’s former musical project, BLACKBOMBS, which attracted loyal followers in the NYC Industrial scene.
Symbol decided to start a band that expressed his diverse musical and artistic interests. It was his aim to portray a twisted interpretation of pop culture through music and video art. Glenn Baughman, formerly of Yankee Bang Bang, suggested that Justin reach out to Alessio Casalini, producer and guitarist at Quad Studios. Alessio became the first member of Nursing Home, having been impressed with an early demo that would become the newly formed duo’s first song: “Emerald City”.
Justin (vocals, electronics) and Alessio (guitarist, producer) auditioned local musicians to fill the necessary spots in the band. After working with a few players who were not a perfect fit, drummer Alexey Artemov signed on as the third member of Nursing Home.
The band debuted their official website along with their first music video and track, “Emerald City” on January 1, 2012. Later in January of 2012, Nursing Home made its live debut headlining the Charleston in Williamsburg (Brooklyn), New York.
Nursing Home plans to continue to play live around the New York tri-state area and produce music videos showcasing songs that will be released on their debut full length album, expected in January 2013.
