A night of booty-shakin' beats to Pre-Funk the Solstice weekend right. Featuring:
Pumpkin [LAX]
http://pocketunderground.com/artist/pumpkin
Pumpkin is not like other DJs. He isn't bound by genre, tempo or playing the latest and hottest tracks. Instead, he finds a familiar thread in songs from multiple genres, styles, and eras, and weaves them into a sound that is all his own.
He has become a mainstay at some of the largest, most innovative festivals in the country, including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Art Outside & EDC.
Pumpkin's quirky remixes of familiar classics create a sense of dance floor sentimentality that crowds revel in. From Peter Gabriel to The Muppets, Blind Melon to folk songstress Tina Dico, Pumpkin digs deep when selecting a song to remix and reinterpret.
Equally at home in a dark warehouse, a packed nightclub, or sunrise at an outdoor festival, Pumpkin is a master at reading the crowd and adjusting his unique selection to turn any dance floor into a big ol' puddle of lovesauce.
SOLOVOX [PDX]
http://www.solovox.com
A producer, composer, and one-man synthesizer attack squad, Solovox is the sound of Earl Carlton Tietze III. He starts with his own original music which spans the genres of house, glitch-hop, breaks, electro, cosmic funk, ambient, and downtempo acid jazz. He also remixes other artists' tracks and throws those in for good measure.
Then, in the live environment, he performs with live synth, organ, and piano playing that is like Herbie Hancock smashing head-on into the Chemical Brothers. Mayhem usually ensues, and he consistently delivers one of the finest live electronic shows available anywhere.
In July of 2009 he became the first-ever all-electronic act in the history of The Oregon Country Fair for their 40th Anniversary. He also headlined San Diego's Elysium Festival, Mexico's Fuente Eterno festival, and Nexus in Los Angeles.
Whether improvising heavily with a downtempo acid jazz set or laying down dance tracks at a club, Solovox is not a DJ...he is one of the most exciting electronic performers to be found anywhere.
