NOTE:
Hi all friends, family and fans: Peter here. I have an announcement to make on behalf of myself, Mr. Sean Bennett, and the rest of The Heyday. I'm truly sorry to inform everyone that both Sean and I are leaving the band to chase some new dreams. After lots of soul searching, he and I arrived very recently at this same conclusion: that it is time for us to move on to some different places and pursuits.
As most of you know, the last few months have been trying for The Heyday. We were robbed of all of our equipment a few days before Christmas and have been doing some fundraising to get some of the gear replaced. Our online Kickstarter project was successful, and we were able to get some spiffy new amps and guitars for Randy and Ryan. As you can imagine, this was a really tough thing to deal with for all of us, and it provoked an period of reflection upon both the past and future of the band.
We've been at it for six years now and have achieved so many incredible things that we will never forget. Learned, seen, and done things that we would never trade away. Made new friends, made new family. Sean and I decided separately over the past couple of months, during all of this reflection, that it was time for us each to move on.
I want to be clear that Randy and Ryan fully intend to continue this wonderful project that has been, is, and will be The Heyday. They have the full support of Sean and myself; in fact, I was really hoping they would continue writing and progressing, as well as still performing these songs that we've given so much to over the last six years and have grown to love. They will be able to do this because of all of your support after the robbery, and I want to thank you all again for helping keep The Heyday alive! You are all so wonderful, and have been to us at every step. From our first baby steps out into the world in Chicago, to our friends and fans from Seattle to Florida, New York to Texas. We've made lifetime friends in every city we've seen, and we'll never forget this amazing experience.
Sean and I will be playing two more shows with The Heyday: this coming Friday, April 27th at Hodi's Half Note in Fort Collins, and our final hurrah at the Marquis Theater (where we've had some of our greatest moments) on Saturday, May 12th. It would mean the world to Sean and myself to see all of your faces for one last time from the stage. Randy and Ryan will be taking a break from live shows after this in order to write, hopefully record some, and to solidify a new lineup, so it might be the last Heyday show for a while. Come make it a party!
Love forever,
Peter, Sean, and The Heyday.
