The 5th Annual New Directions in Anthropology Conference - April 27th - April 28th in the UT Anthropology department SAC 5.118 and 4.174. Experimental, innovative, creative, avant-garde, new, different!
There will be many, many, panels, papers, discussions, presentations, documentary screenings etc you won't want to miss.
There will be discussions about the possibilities and impossibilities of liberation and resistance and tips from representatives of all four subfields on research methodology; presentations on the uses and impact of media and a showing of experimental and interactive documentaries. We will talk about bio-art and bio-politics, photography, video, and dance, race, gender and sexuality and much, much more.
The Keynote presentation this year will be given by Linguist Dr. Rusty Barrett, who's upcoming book is "From Drag Queens to Leathermen: Language, Gender and Gay Male Subcultures"
