On May 17th, ArtPadSF will launch with an exclusive preview show benefiting the 2012/13 SECA Art Award. Since 1967, SFMOMA’s art interest group, SECA (Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Art), has honored more than 70 Bay Area artists of exceptional promise with this biennial award. ArtPadSF has partnered with SECA to shine a light on this important award program that has brought recognition to many Bay Area artists, including D-L Alvarez, Tauba Auerbach, Rosana Castrillo Díaz, Kota Ezawa, Colter Jacobsen, Chris Johanson, Ruth Laskey, Barry McGee, and Laurie Reid, among many others.

ArtPadSF’s Opening Night Party will not only benefit SFMOMA’s 2012/13 SECA Art Award, it will also feature a live performance curated by artist and writer Bean Gilsdorf, a rare opportunity to visit exhibitors and connect with dealers before the fair opens to the public, a video screening curated by Brent Hoff, Director of Wholphin (McSweeney’s new quarterly DVD), a chance to win a work of art by a SECA Art Award winner and eats and drinks courtesy of 7x7 Magazine's “Best Newcomer” Chambers eat + drink.
