Northern Voice is a two-day, non-profit personal blogging and publishing conference that's held in Vancouver, Canada on June 15-16, 2012. It's nominally a weblog social media conference that focuses on personal interactions, which means the range of topics may involve anything that webbie people are interested in... that is, just about anything. Previous years have had plenty of geekery mixed with panels on how blogging interacts with family life, education, travel, photography, community building and establishing professional profiles. Speakers range from the big names to first-time presenters with a passion to share. The registration fee includes coffee and tea at the breaks, but no lunch since we're in Gastown and there are lots of cool places to eat., including at the W2 building where we're holding Northern Voice this year. This also lets us keep the ticket prices as low as possible. This is the 8th annual incarnation of this event, which puts the personal back into personal blogging and the social into social media. Expect lots of photos, video, and other recordings of the event.* If you haven't been to the event's official Web site, go to
http://2012.northernvoice.ca/ for more information. Payment is through Paypal, but you don't need a Paypal account to pay, just a valid credit card. REFUND POLICY: No refunds (unless you become a speaker after buying a ticket. Then we'll refund you the ticket price). That's it, it's a simple policy. :) But if you can't attend, feel free to find someone else to take your ticket. Email us the details before June 2, 2012 to change the name on the badge. And no, we won't split up a two-day ticket into two one-day tickets - we tried that in 2009 and it ended up being more hassle for everyone than you can imagine. ABOUT T-SHIRTS: This year, they are gray (or grey, if you prefer). Order in advance to be sure of getting the size you want, although we will have some for sale at the conference as well. These shirts will be a mid-weight cotton, probably from American Apparel. There will be (awesome, cool) sponsor logos on the back. You'll be able to purchase them at the conference spontaneously if you're early enough, but not necessarily in the size you want. Check out previous year's t-shirts here:

http://2012.northernvoice.ca/blog/northern-voice-happy-hour-party for the details. The party cost is included in the early-bird two-day package, but not in the other tickets. Party tickets will be available separately. * We do ask that people not post identifiable photos or video of children to public sites without their caregiver's permission.
