This year’s Fiestas Patrias of Austin Cinco de Mayo celebration will take place Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th at Fiesta Gardens in the heart of Central East Austin. This year's musical performances will include artists such as Jimmy Gonzalez y El Grupo MAZZ, Gary Hobbs, David Marez, Flavio Longoria, Joel Guzman – Sarah Fox, Santiago Jimenez Jr., and Johnny Degollado. There will be food, beverages, fun and games, family activities and lots of dancing.
There will also be an official Cinco De Mayo Celebration Opening Ceremony and Program scheduled for Saturday, May 5th at 6pm on the main stage. Senator Gonzalo Barrientos will serve as our distinguished Master of Ceremonies. Our brief program will include an official welcoming to the Cinco de Mayo festivities, acknowledgement of sponsors and a thank you to our local elected and appointed officials who continue to support Fiestas Patrias of Austin.
Fiestas Patrias of Austin is a non-profit organization founded in 1978 by Mr. Gilbert Velasquez. The Velasquez family are pillars in the local Hispanic/Latino community. Since 1978, Fiestas Patrias of Austin has worked diligently to preserve and promote the Mexican-American culture, to provide scholarships for college-bound Hispanic youth, provide grant funding for youth programs and fund the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the AB Cantu/Pan Am Recreation center. To date, Fiestas Patrias of Austin has raised over $500,000 to serve the local Hispanic/Latino community. For more information, visit
