Saints of Valory EP Release Party w/ special guest Maggie Koerner
An impassioned rock quartet, Saints of Valory has a multi-national background, with singer Gavin Jasper from Brazil, French drummer Gerard Bouvier, Canadian Stephen Buckle on keys, and American Godfrey Thomson on guitar.
Formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2009, the band relocated to Austin, Texas in 2010, where they recorded debut EP, "The Bright Lights." The EP received radio airplay all over the country, with "Providence" cracking the AAA song charts.
After less than six months on the scene, the band's efforts earned them top 10 placement in six categories at the Austin Chronicle's 2011 Music Awards.
In 2011, national touring brought a broader audience at SXSW, CMJ and DeLuna Fest. Later in the year, the fellas headed to Nashville to record with renowned producer Jason Lehning (Mat Kearney, Guster) in anticipation of a 2012 release.
MAGGIE KOERNER: Maggie Koerner, is a 25-year-old singer/songwriter with some “soul to slap in your face,” she says. This New Orleans transplant, by way of Shreveport, Louisiana, has a sexy voice and an even sexier resume. Writing, playing and recording with musicians such as Galactic, Anders Osborne, The Revivalists, Dylan LeBlanc, Kristin Diable, Phoenix Hart and many others opened doors for this emerging artist which led her to stages at Stubb's, dba, Tipitina's, and events like Voodoo Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Pensacola's DeLuna Festival. Most recently, Koerner, along with The Revivalist's David Shaw, co-wrote and performed on Galactic's first single, "Hey Na Na" off of their latest album, "Carnivale Electricos." Koerner enjoys wailing the nastiness when asked politely, but it's the rawness of her voice and the honesty in her lyrics that really connects this powerhouse with listeners. Her greatest asset is the ability to evoke emotion; she yanks your heart out of your chest and uses it as a microphone. Spending most of her life in Shreveport, Koerner dreamed of pursuing a career in music after graduating from college, but it was drummer/producer, Brady Blade (Dave Matthews, Jewel, Citizen Cope, Emmylou Harris) discovering her raw, one-of-a-kind talent on Youtube that made these dreams tangible. Blade was so compelled by this budding artist's talent, he took her under his wing and produced her debut album, "Quarter Life," with a cast of all-star musicians including Tony Hall (Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Ike & Tina Turner), David Shaw & Zack Feinberg of The Revivalists, Shawn Stroop (Daniel Lanois), Nick Scallorn (Neal McCoy), Buffi Jacobs (Imogen Heap, Kanye West, Sarah Jaffe) and sound engineer, Chris Bell (The Eagles, Maroon 5, Eryka Badu) at Blade Studios in Shreveport, Louisiana. "Quarter Life" is available at MaggieKoerner.com or iTunes.
