Echale! spring series wraps up with Chico Trujillo, Ana Tijoux and openers Bombasta on Friday, May 11th. Chile based Chico Trujillo has evolved in to one of the most popular bands in South America following critically acclaimed performances at Lollapalooza both in Santiago and Chicago. The band was born as a side-project from the legendary punk-ska group La Floripondio and has quickly vaulted in popularity to become one of the most talked about musical acts in South America blending a sound of classic cumbia and boleros with a hint of gypsy Balkan horns and a tinge of reggae. French-Chilean artist Ana Tijoux, has a unique sound that mixes hip-hop with mainstream Latin pop. Her newest release, La Bala, quickly topped the charts of iTunes Latino and is already being mentioned on best lists of 2012.
The Pearl amphitheater seats roughly 1,000 but Pearl is inviting latecomers to bring lawn chairs and blankets in case seating is scarce. Feel free to bring snacks and refreshments, Pearl will also be offering a Mexican beer bar.
