Seminar Overview: Why do some countries grow and not others? How effective is foreign aid at helping countries develop? Does being poor keep a country poor? This lecture will briefly explore both the theory and the empirical evidence on how poverty traps and sustained growth bursts can happen, using examples from Asia, Africa, and around the world.
About Professor McIntrye: Assistant Professor of Economics at Rutgers Business School. His research covers a wide range of topics, such as the effects of inflation on wages, how institutional structure raises or lowers personal bankruptcy rates, US judicial attempts to stop violent crimes by those on bail, and competition among children.
Fee: 150 RMB. Students and alumni from Rutgers University are welcome to attend this event for free as part of Rutgers continuing commitment to lifelong learning.

This session will be in honour of the late Professor Peter Parks who was an important part of the International EMBA program in China and Singapore.
