 This talk will focus on research examining the green economy as
 an economic development tool at the local scale. In addition to
 exploring a range of potential policy tools for developing green
 jobs\, this talk will focus on how local entities\, such as
 cities and counties\, can use environmentally preferable
 purchasing plans as a central tool in developing the local green
 economy.\n
