Sararut Pilakun Roylance will lead us in the techniques of meditation.
Sararut, a native Thai is just returning from a 2-year stay in Thailand where she studied traditional Thai medicine at the doctoral level and participated in intensive multi-week Buddhist meditation training. She has practiced Theravada Buddhism her entire life and leads our group in regular meditation.
Sararut has lived as a "phrom" at over 15 Thai temples. A "phrom" will enter the temple community for deeper knowledge and serious study with important monks and female nuns or "mae chee".
Sararut recently spent several weeks at a remote mountain temple meditating in the darkness of a cave for 4-8 hours at a time. Her devotional practice of meditation lasted several weeks at this remote temple to be followed by a period of personal solitude were she did not talk for nearly 2 weeks. She invited a well known Thai nun, or Mae Chee, to visit her at home to assist in her spiritual pursuit where she received private instruction.
Sararut will share her experiences and meditation practice with you at these meetups.
PS - If you plan to eat dinner prior to this meetup, eat a lighter meal. (Salad, fruit, yogurt, granola, etc.) After the meetup, you will be able to eat a larger meal. This will help you to gain the most benefit from your meditation.
