Networking: 8am-8:30am Presentation: 8:30am-9:30am We're very pleased to be able to use the "Kitchen in the Market" space for our event. Coffee and pastries can be purchased and picked up at either the "Salty Tart" or "Mapps" inside the Midtown Global Market area. In the world of the internet and web design, HTML5 is the latest in coding to come onto the scene. How is it different from previous codes? What are the benefits of using it? Is it easier or more complex? How will it help in web design and is it good to learn how to use it, or will HTML6 come out next week? We'll have 2 speakers to share their thoughts and ideas on HTML5, as well as answer some of your questions. Travis Neiderhiser is a developer for Spyder Trap. Travis' expertise includes six years of development in web, mobile, database, API, analytics and framework environments. His experience includes XHTML/CSS, HTML5, PHP, Javascript, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ASP.net, ActionScript 1/2/3, and Objective C. His coding standards adhere to the following when appropriate: Object Oriented Programming, Model/View/Controller, RESTful API’s, AJAX, and W3C. Travis also has server set-up and administration experience with LAMP servers, email servers, name servers, and systems monitoring services. He works in Mac, Windows, and Linux (CentOS and Ubuntu) environments, and VMWare virtual machines for product testing. Kevin O'Brien is a front-end development manager at Clockwork Active Media Systems. His focus is on planning and implementing HTML, CSS, and Javascript for websites and web applications. HTML5 brings new opportunities and challenges to the web. In his talk, Kevin will discuss insights from the Clockwork team about this rapidly growing technology.
