Film and poetry... this night is guaranteed to both inspire and move you to action.
The Last Survivor is a character-based documentary that presents the stories of genocide survivors from the holocaust, Rwanda, Darfur and Congo, and their struggle to make sense of tragedy.
By presenting stories of loss, survival and hope, side by side, the film highlights the commonalities individuals share both as survivors and, more broadly, as human beings.
Performance poet, radio host, and co-organiser of the Still Waters Storytelling Collective, Sister Zai, will also be performing a moving tribute to survival, created specifically for the event.
Representatives from Hotham Mission and the Asylum Seeker's Resource Centre will also be available to share how you can support Melbourne's growing refugee population and take action to make a difference.
This event is co-hosted with Arts in Action and is a ticketed event.
Ticket prices are $12/$15 online (plus $2 booking fee) or $20 at the door.
For more information and to purchase your tickets, head to the Bella Union website.

OUR EVENT'S CO-HOST
Arts in Action was founded in March 2011 by Angie Muccillo with a mission to showcase the visionary work of talented filmmakers, art and video activists, photophilanthropists, street and other artists. Documentary film is a powerful tool to not only share personal stories, but to inspire action.
Arts in Action evenings are well co-ordinated events with a focus on great films. You don't walk away without appreciating life just that little bit more.... and wanting to do something with it.
