OPENING NIGHT:
A deadpan fable about time sneaking up and swerving right around us, BOB BYINGTON's "Somebody Up There Likes Me" is consistently silly and poignant at once.
The film follows Max (Keith Poulson), his best friend Sal (Nick Offerman) and a woman they both adore, Lyla (Jess Weixler) through 35 years of mandatory but apparently unfulfilling entanglements at weddings, funerals, hospitals, eateries, divorce courts...and the tool shed.
SOMEBODY UP THERE LIKES ME is a beautiful commentary on the cycle of life, which it breaks down into humorous and, at times, heart-warming bite-size segments. Bob Byington reminds us that there’s magic and discovery around every corner in life.
Director Bob Byington and star Nick Offerman to be in attendance for live Q&A.
Short film: MOUTHFUL, directed by Robert G. Putka.
MOUTHFUL Producer Ben Measor and actor Eilis Cahill to be present for post-screening Q&A.
